The dam is a bit of a problem for paddlers with questionable skills. It is usually runnable, but when the farmer puts up a double-strand barbed wire fence right at the lip, it becomes a forced river right portage. Carabiners, belays and chocks (as well as good rock climbing companions are good to have.)
